What is Human Trafficking?
Human trafficking is often thought of as modern day slavery. Adults and children are sold and are forced to work and/or engage in commercial sexual activity. Human trafficking is the fastest growing and second largest criminal business in the world, and really does happen here, even though it is difficult to see or often thought of as something else. Thanks to the passing of Minnesota’s Safe Harbor Law, youth age 24 and under are now considered victims/survivors and given access to supportive services, rather than treated as criminals when they are involved in prostitution. Services and help are now available to assist in the healing and to meet the needs of these children and youth.
