School and Head Start Screenings
Having a health and development assessment before starting Head Start or Kindergarten helps assure that your child gets off to a the best possible start.
Head Start Screening
The health and development screening requirement for Head Start is the same screening as a Child and Teen Check-up. The West Central Minnesota Communities Action Head Start Program contracts with Horizon Public Health to provide those screenings for your child. Head Start and Horizon Public Health work together to make sure you are contacted and set up with an appointment for the screening.
Early Childhood Screenings (ECS)
For most of the schools in Douglas, Grant, Pope, Stevens and Traverse counties, the school districts contract with Horizon Public Health to complete the screenings for children about to enter Kindergarten. Depending on the school your child will attend, the screening may take place at the school, or at one of the Horizon Public Health offices. We work together with the schools to make sure all of the screenings are completed. You can call Horizon Public Health to find out about scheduling and what to expect!
If you have a child that is over 3 years old and have not received a call from us about scheduling the screening, please call us to schedule an appointment at 320-763-6062.
