Spanish (En Espanol) – Emergency Preparedness

How can I prepare?

If a disaster occurs in your community, local government and disaster-relief organizations will assist in every way possible, but you need to be ready as well, as local responders may not be able to reach you immediately, or they may need to focus their efforts elsewhere.

You need a plan for you and your family that includes communication. You need to have supplies in place to be self-sufficient for at least three days. This may mean providing for your own shelter, first aid, food, water, and sanitation.

What Is CodeRed?

CodeRed is a unique service that automatically calls residents who are in the path of severe weather. People are contacted within minutes after a warning has been issued by the National Weather Service. You will be informed of local, severe weather like thunderstorms, tornados, ice storms and blizzards. The alerts sent out are based on your address, not where you might be at the time of the alert.

CodeRed can also inform you of other events that may impact your safety. For example, your county may use the CodeRed alert system to notify you of hazardous materials leaks, boil water orders, missing persons or local criminal activity.

You must be signed up to be notified.

CodeRed Is:

  • A FREE emergency notification service.
  • Available to everyone.
  • Sends emergency messages by phone call, text message or email.
